1. How does the Distance Learning MBA Program differ from the On-Campus MBA Program?
The Auburn Distance Learning Program mirrors the on-campus full-time MBA Program and has similar entry requirements and academic model. Instruction is delivered via DVD on a concurrent basis as classes are conducted on campus. Internet streaming will be available starting January 2006. This program is available to students who live within the U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories and Commonwealths, or who are U.S. Military with an APO or FPO address and who have regular Internet access.
2. When is the application deadline?
The priority deadline for Fall semester entry is March 1 of that year. The priority deadline for Spring semester entry is September 1.
3. What is the cost of tuition for the Outreach Program?
Student fees are $598 per semester credit hour (as of Fall 2007). Textbooks are not included with this fee. There is no difference in the MBA Distance Learning fees for in-state and out-of-state students.
4. Do you accept tuition payments from employers?
Yes. Most of our Distance Learning students fund the financial requirements of their first semester and then use their company reimbursements to fund subsequent semesters and courses.
5. How long will it take me to complete my MBA in the Outreach Program?
Outreach students usually take 2 classes (6 credit hours) per semester. The average completion time for this program is 2 ½ to 3 years start to finish. The Auburn MBA Degree requires completion of a minimum of 36 semester credit hours.
6. How are the courses taught?
The Auburn program utilizes digital recording of all course lectures and meetings and distributes DVDs via U.S. Postal Service mail. Internet streaming is also a delivery option.
7. What is the time schedule for return of class materials?
Distance Learning students generally have up to 2 weeks to return “deliverables” (e.g. projects, cases, exams) to the instructor. There is some degree of flexibility, but lead time and turn-around time is important in successfully completing course requirements and staying current with courses.
8. How are exams administered?
Exams are proctored at your location or in your community via a person who is approved by the Auburn University Graduate Outreach Program Office and the MBA Office. (Most students use an HR or Training and Development individual in their company. Others work with a local librarian or other non-related person.) Examinations and tests are sent to the proctor who in turn contacts you to arrange an date and time for your testing. Tests are given with the same constraints and time limits as with the on-campus students.
9. Will I have to travel to the Auburn University campus?
There is one 5-day on-campus residency (Strategy Case Analysis and Presentation) required during the fall semester immediately prior to your graduation. This is a mandatory Auburn University academic requirement in order to receive the MBA degree via the Distance Learning Program.
10. Do you offer Executive MBA or Physicians Executive MBA Programs?
Yes. You can find more information about the Executive MBA Programs and the Physicians Executive MBA Programs at: www.emba.business.auburn.edu
