Chartered in 1856, the University is located in the friendly, small town environment of Auburn, Alabama. The University's beautiful 1900 acre campus is home to 23,750 students (including 3000 graduate students), 1,100 faculty, and more than 50 major academic buildings. The Ralph Brown Draughon Library is a member of the prestigious Association of Research Libraries, which recognizes Auburn's ascendancy to the top ranks of academic research libraries in North America.

The Auburn campus offers many opportunities for cultural diversity, entertainment, arts, nationally-ranked collegiate sports teams, and outdoor recreational activities. A student body of over 23,000 individuals blends well with the area population of 50,000 residents who work in the many small and medium-sized companies which employ hundreds of the area's educated, diverse, and skilled work force.

Auburn University has developed into one of the largest universities in the South, remaining in the educational forefront with its traditional blend of arts and applied science, and changing with the needs of today while living with a respect for the traditions and spirit that are Auburn.
